About Cheryl

Cheryl has been a dedicated therapist in the Twin Ports area for over 12 years. Her professional journey began well before earning her licensure, with extensive experience in a variety of therapeutic settings and roles. Cheryl’s passion for helping others feel seen, heard, and empowered began while working alongside women and children impacted by physical, emotional, and economic abuse.

She later served as floor staff at Woodland Hills, and after earning her Master’s degree returned to work as a child/adolescent therapist. Cheryl’s next opportunity led her to the Amberwing Center for Youth and Family Wellness, where she spent six years building and leading the "Little’s" program. It was during this phase of her career that Cheryl personally experienced loss, which deeply influenced her decision to shift her practice to help others cope with loss and grief. She went on to serve as a grief therapist at Saint Mary’s Medical Center, where she gained invaluable insights while guiding individuals through challenging experiences.

Areas of Interest

Since 2019, Cheryl has partnered with Inner Fokus providing in-person and teletherapy as well as providing contracted services within the Hermantown Schools. She works with both children (ages 7-18) and adults, specializing in grief and loss, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Cheryl utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

Hobbies

Outside of her professional life, Cheryl is a proud mom to four amazing adult children and a doting “nana” to her grandson, who brings immense joy to her life. She enjoys spending her downtime with her partner, Jason, exploring new places, hiking, and snowshoeing with their dog, Nala. Cheryl deeply values the time spent with her extended family. She credits much of her growth and therapeutic knowledge to both her children and clients, as they continue to inspire her on her ongoing personal and professional journey.
